Coronavirus Coverage: A Live Stream Hero Story

With the spread of the notorious coronavirus, many people and professionals alike are seeking to stray from crossing paths with the disease by any means possible. Circumstances change, precautionary steps taken, and plans have to alter. Scheduled events are continuing to postpone, and some are even canceling. Instead of canceling, a majority of companies are opting for holding virtual events.

Virtual events can help you stay connected with your audience, even if you can’t bring them all to the same place. In the digital world, a live event becomes an enjoyable experience while being at your audience’s leisure and safety. The expansion of live streaming is soaring and can be proclaimed as the evolution of television, as it continues to outgrow video-on-demand. Live TV made an impact because it brought its viewer’s up-to-date information and a sense of connection. Live streaming creates a sense of being present in the moment. To bring this all to fruition, tech-savvy individuals and program coordinators are executing behind the scenes.

While scheduled events are postponing or canceled to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Playback Now and the NAIS organization went the extra mile to provide coverage for the world to see and be a part of. The on-demand capability of delivering such an experience is priceless to those a part of it and holds genuine value. Playback Now’s own Scott Howard and Todd Galucki are a great example of the impact live streaming has and the value provided through helping clients in unique situations as such.

These two embarked on a journey to Philadelphia for the 2020 NAIS Annual Conference to capture and share the annual event with the world. It was 2 p.m. on a Thursday, and the crew was setting up and testing equipment beforehand. The guys were then approached with a motion to provide last-minute live coverage for an extra session being put together that would focus on the spread of the coronavirus and offer an authentic perspective of the pandemic. The session began at 7 p.m. and came to a close an hour later. Over 800 viewers tuned in at their leisure, along with the other 200 members of the audience onsite. By 9 p.m., the digital recording file was rendered and instantly uploaded to the site (https://nais.playbacknow.com/2020-nais-annual-conference/61201-701).

Forward-thinking and proper execution turned an opportunity into a reality in which granted a viewable experience for a live audience that was brought together to be both informed and connected. At a moment’s notice and with a very short turn-around, a hero story was born that adds to the backbone of Playback Now’s ongoing mission to provide a valuable service to those partnered with and growing alongside. Like any proactive approach to a block in the road, you must adapt, react, and deliver through these hurdles to achieve a positive outcome. Playback Now is happy to be a part of such an experience and provide live-streaming capabilities through these weary and paranoid times. We work with you to ensure you’ll be able to share your meeting with the world the way you want.
